Vice Grip makes the best locking plier type clamps available. Other brands wear out, don’t clamp good, and are of inferior quality.

These are the best plier locking type of clamps I’ve found. I tried the crescent ones, which wore out pretty quickly. The only problem I’ve ever had with these is getting weld slag on the clamp tips or screw threads. If the spring breaks, as it will tend to after several years of abuse, it’s tricky to replace. I’ve gotten the replacement springs from my industrial hardware supplier, who probably found something similar and sells them as replacements. So, I’m sure they can be found at any good hardware store.

I believe this is mostly a welders tool for clamping pieces together, but I happened to use it for a wholly different purpose – removing a wheel bearing cap, and it did the job. It even stood up to repeated blows from a small 4lb sledge hammer while removing the cap.
