North Safety 7700 half mask respiraton

I was familiar with this product before I purchased it. North Safety half mask respirators are some of the best ones found in todays market. They shipped exactly what I ordered and even was delivered two days befor their projected delivery date. I would not hesitate to order Norht Safety products. I back this company because prior to retiring, I used their this type of respirator and other North Products on a daily basis.

WARNING: this review contains admission of ignorance! *gasp*

This morning I had a small frown upon opening the respirator box to find the filters were not included. Looking back, I believe I even shook a fist in the air. “Curse you!”

The other respirators I have purchased have come with the filters, so you must agree with my surprise.

For all that is true, I will admit that I did not pay enough attention to the product listing. A slight pinge of denial is persuading me to think “oh..well maybe the seller edited the title listing since the last time you looked!!” 67% (22% believes in personal error, 11% is hungry) of me really does think that the listing did not say ‘mask only’ when I purchased, but when you read what I have to say next, you will inevitably side with the vendor.

This mask is THE most comfortable I have ever worn in my life. I have owned numerous others (3M etc), some reaching cost of $50 or so. So comfortable, in fact, that I forgot I was wearing it and walked out into the hallway to get my packages and unknowingly scare the living bejeezüs out of a passing neighbor. Way to make an impression. *shakes head*

If you are in doubt, don’t be…just buy this amazing mask, join the ranks and spook a neighbor or two.

PS. DONT FORGET TO ADD THE FILTERS IN YOUR PURCHASE!! Particle pucks are pink, vapor pucks are black.

Good for the price

Don’t expect this skull to look beautiful like the professional models, but for a quarter of the cost it is still accurate. I am using this model to study in a pre-med biology class in college and it works fine. All of the small details present on real skulls are there, just a little rougher around the edges, plus some of the holes are not punched all the way through. The mandible is removable and inside the skull has the same anatomical details you would expect. This is great to study with at home without paying over $100 for the professional quality models.

Review for Art Students

My first impression upon seeing the skull was that it was very shiny. This itself would be ok, however the top of the skull did not fit on correctly. The proportions otherwise are correct though. It does not have great detail, but is useful for gaining an understanding of the basic proportions of a skull for the beginning art student. Those who want something a little more detailed though, would be better of paying a pit more for a nicer model.

Not appropriate for everything.

I bought this skull in hopes of using it for practicing drawing, but the seams between the plastic were so poorly aligned that I had to return it. Many of the pieces wiggle around and don’t sit snugly. You may also need to trim some excess plastic off from the molding process, as the one I recieved did not look very clean– particularly between the teeth. I find the removable teeth annoying just because they don’t stay in very well, but they are properly formed and would be great for demonstration. I don’t mean to just bash the product though; this skull would be great for a classroom where one was trying to give people the impression of what a skull is, how it functions and the volume inside the skull.

cute, careful

Bought this because it was different, simple, small. watch out though – if you grip it firmly in your right hand and use it as if to make a hole or push it into something, the lock can fail and the knife will fold onto your index finger. It happened to me, I forgot to tell my husband and it made a nice cut on his finger. It is clear this knife was never meant to be used in a stabbing motion as it has no guard or notch to keep your fingers from sliding into the blade. Decent general/light duty cutter, more style than knife.

safe and durable, not easy to sharpen

I have had this knife for about 7 years. The lock is very secure and the weight and size feel good in my hand. I can open and close it with one hand.

I am rough on my things, and this knife is missing a lot of the black coating it came with, but it still snaps open and shut as easily as ever. The thick tanto blade is pretty much impossible to bend or break. The joint is holding up fine after hundreds (thousands?) of openings and closings.

I have never had a problem with the blade catching or cutting anything while closed. I carry this knife clipped to my jeans pocket or in my jacket pocket very frequently. I can just barely feel the tip of the blade if I run my thumb over it, but there’s no way it would cut something in that position.

Only downside is it’s difficult to sharpen. The tanto blade has two edges and a corner. The chisel grind means you have to get just the right angle or you’re turning it into a butter knife. If you’re good with a whetstone it shouldn’t be a problem, but if you haven’t sharpened a knife before, get some practice with an ordinary blade first.

I also own a (Gerber clone of) the CRKT PECK, which is basically a smaller, wharncliff-blade version of the KISS. The simple straight edge makes it vastly easier to keep sharp. The fit of the blade to frame is not as safe, but I blame that on Gerber.

If I could go back in time I’d get the serrated version (can be useful even when dull) but I am still quite happy with this after all these years.

Kershaw’s new OverDrive-2 was devised to give you the “OverDrive” style you want at a value price. Designed by Lee Williams, this more spectacular OD-2 has a blade of 8CR13MOV stainless steel to take and hold it is edge well. The glass-filled nylon handle provides stability, rigidity, and a non-slip grip. Of course, the OD-2 is one of our Flipper knives. Just pull back on the blade protrusion and flick your wrist forward more or less and knife will open with no problems or difficulties and lock in place. But the OD offers a twist on the basic Flipper. Once the blade is open, the blade protrusion folds into a recess in the liner to give the OD-2 a sleek, smooth line all the way down.

This is it! Finally found my EDC.

Third time really is the charm. I wanted a small knife for every day carry, and to minimize the chances of any legal trouble I wanted a folder with a blade less than 2.5 inches. First I bought the Kershaw Half Ton, and while it has a really nice broad blade and buttery smooth flip action, it was simply too heavy. Next I tried the Buck Parallex, which had a pleasant, sweeping blade shape, but again was slightly heavier than it needed to be because of the handle material, and was also too difficult to flip out.

Enter the Kershaw OD-2. It is extremely light, even though it is a lock liner, thanks to the lightweight materials used. The flip mechanism is also brilliant, extremely fast, and smooth. I don’t care much about out of the box sharpness since I always sharpen my knives, but this one came quite sharp. If there is any weakness to this folder, it’s that the blade is narrow, make it suited for more delicate tasks and not heavy cutting. I was, however, able to use it to cut cardboard easily. As expected from 8Cr13MoV material, the blade is hard and keeps an edge well despite being inexpensive.

Overall, I am extremely happy with this knife, and recommend it to anyone who wants a small knife or EDC but doesn’t plan on doing heavy duty cutting.

I love this knife!

I’m very happy with this knife. In general I don’t care much for manual openers. I much prefer assisted openers like the Kershaw Chive or Kershaw Ken Onion Baby Boa. However I was in the market for an inexpensive knife and decided that the OD-2 would be adequate despite being a manual opener. Although it doesn’t open quite as smoothly as an assisted opening knife, it still provides easy one-handed opening with the flipper mechanism. It can also be closed relative easily with one hand. It comes nice and sharp right out of the box. It is fairly compact at 3.1″ long (5.4″ when open) and 0.55″ thick including the clip. It weighs in at a mere 1.4oz which is so light you will not even notice it in your pocket. The handle is just long enough for me to grip with three fingers (my hands aren’t too big so your mileage may vary). It’s not going to be suitable for heavy duty cutting, but it’s a great everyday knife for light to medium cutting duties.

Overall it’s a well-built, solid little knife. At under $20 it’s not quite in the same class as $75 knives, but it’s an excellent value for the price and it can definitely hold its own against many knives costing twice the price.

Great for a smaller EDC

I bought this Kershaw OD-2 to have a lightweight EDC knife that would fit easily into the 5th pocket in jeans but tough enough to survive back country treks. It is very lightweight and totally unobtrusive. The clip is very sturdy and feels like it will hold up for a long time. Clip is moveable as well. The “flipper” opening mechanism is very handy for single hand use and opens the blade quite quickly. The entire knife is easily disassembled for thorough cleanings.

The blade itself packs quite a punch for its size. 8Cr steel is a very high quality steel for the money, and its very rare indeed to find such a good steel for $16. Blade is very sharp and responds quite well to light- to medium-duty cutting tasks.

The handle material feels tough but is missing just a little bit of “grippiness” for my tastes. Thats really the only thing I’d change about the knife.

If you are looking for a burly beast of a blade to tackle anything you can possibly throw at it, look for one of the big boys. If you want a very inexpensive, tough and unobtrusive EDC, this is your knife!
