Awesome

This works perfectly. It comes out white, which makes it easy to see what you are doing and then turns clear after about a half-hour. Now my tub is sealed and I can barely see it.

I have nothing bad to say

First off, let me say this: I thought at first that it was going to take forever for it to be delivered, but to my suprise, it was right on time!

It’s a nifty little play thing, made in china (the seller has been very clear in other reviews that it is and he is not trying rip any one off). When I ordered it, I was expecting some flimsy thing that would break easily but it appears to be very well built (I just got it today however).I got the wood one and the handle is a bit bulkier than I imagined but it looks good.

Looks just like the picture and is as advertised.

The only thing I have an issue with and it could be my lack of skill, is that it will not sharpen worth a darn so far. I’ve been working it on the stone with oil for a while now and it still isn’t very sharp.

All in all, well worth the 20 bucks.

Not bad

I bought one of these knifes from a local swap mart a couple years ago. Mine was a milano as well but it had a white “pearl” handle which i don’t see here. It lasted a couple of months before the plastic handle cracked, however i was able to super glue it together and it was no big deal. The only real problem i had with it is when the lock started to slip into the unlocked position, seems to be a design flaw or perhaps just a mechanical defect on my knife. I liked it so much though i still carried it in my back pocket like a jackass and it opened countless times and put some serious holes in my jeans. I paid 20 bucks for it at the swapmart and i was hoping to find a replacement for cheaper on amazon so i’m a bit disappointed in the price. Also i’m surprised that this is the only real automatic stiletto style knife on amazon, usually amazon has much more variety. Overall it is very cool and a pretty good knife until it broke, i still love it and use it i just can’t carry it around cause of the lock

its an ok knife, it looks cheap and feels cheap, but its a good knife for the price. but i just dont know how to close the knife,but ill probally figure it out eventualy.

Gerber Profile Fixed Blade

I am pleased with the purchase. This was a nice knife for the price. What attracted me was the blade shape. Due to its configuration, my thumb fits nicely in the raised portion of the blade. I experienced less strain on the thumb joint and allowed for greater blade control. The sheath is made of ballistic nylon which I do not care for. The snap on the handle loop was broken when I received it. For some this may be an issue, but, I spent my money for the knife, not the sheath. The textured rubber handles are a real plus for a sure grip. The blade is, of course, sharp right out of the box. Despite the sheath, I would recommend this knife to others.

I want to like it, but it falls short

I have owned this knife for 3 years now, so I thought that I could give some good insight to some of you that are looking at buying it. This is a knife that I really want to like, and it has features that are great, but the bad outweighs the good, and there are much better choices for less money, so I really can’t recommend buying this knife.

The good: I love the grips! I used this knife to help a relative butcher a deer just a few months ago, and the soft rubber grip was good, even when my hands were slimy and bloody. The knife fits my hand just fine.
I really like the shape of the knife and the color. I really like the fact that the knife is full tang and feels very solid and sturdy.

The sheath is ok. I don’t have any issues with it the way some people do. It does its job just fine, and really, what more do you expect for a knife that can be had for under $20?

The bad: Chinese mystery steel. The blade is so soft that it doesn’t hold an edge for long. It dulls very quickly and completely. While whittling some sticks, the edge dulled so badly that I had to completely resharpen the knife, while I was able to use my Mora Companion to whittle on the same sticks for 2x or 3x as long, and then the Mora would only need to be stropped back to razor sharpness! The same goes for processing the deer. Cutting away the fat and cutting the meat off the bones dulled the knife very quickly.

For me, the poor steel ruins the usefulness of the knife, and I keep it now only as a loner knife, because I like to spend my time using a knife rather than resharpening it every couple of minutes. The knife looks good and is comfortable to use, but in the end, if a knife can’t hold a decent edge, it is worthless. I want to like it, but I can’t. Besides, the Mora Companion costs less than the Gerber Profile, and has much better steel. Maybe one day I will use this knife as a pattern to make a knife out of some good steel and transfer the handles. Until then, this one will stay on the shelf unless I need to loan it to one of my buddies that don’t take very good care of things.

Worth it

Just received this little beauty in the mail. It was shipped SHAVING SHARP (to my surprise). Though there was a very slight ding in the blade, I don’t see that as a fault of the knife itself but rather the manufacturer and/or OEM packager. Otherwise, everything else was perfect.

HANDLE: Lizard-skin texture. Very comfortable to grip. Slip resistant to the max. Easy to remove and clean or mod. Very big hands may only have a four-finger grip with an orphaned pinky.

BLADE: Wicked. Appears to be a little longer than what’s shown on the Amazon.com item image. Thick enough for EDC, light battoning and moderate bushcrafting (as a second knife).

BALANCE: 45% (cutting edge) / 55% (handle) under index finger upon normal grip.

WEIGHT: Just over white-collar EDC but probably light enough for blue-collar EDC. It’s certainly no heavier than my Leatherman [new] Wave and perhaps lighter.

SHEATH: Ballistic nylon with vinyl lining for belt loop reinforcement (nice touch). Snap instead of velcro (another nice touch). Sleeve tight enough to hold blade semi-secure without closing snap.

Overall the Gerber Profile feels like a more expensive knife. I see this knife as a reliable pair of sneakers or loafers that you can wear every day. I can see my Gerber Profile becoming a great little camp knife second to my Gerber Big Rock (which is being shipped to me as of this writing).

Suprisingly Well Made and a Great Value for the Money

I had been searching for a good metal training knife for some time and ran across several by big “name brand” knife makers that wanted almost as much for a metal folding training knife as they wanted from an actual fully functional folding knife. And yes, these “name brand” training knives were well made, but I just couldn’t see spending that amount of money and not having an actual fully functional knife. I equated that same logic as to spending thousands of dollars on a realistic automobile that didn’t really do anything or go anywhere. See my point!

So after a bit of searching I finally came across the Genpro folding training knife, which is really well made and a great value for the money. You are going to spend about 1/4 to 1/5 the cost of one of the “name brand” folding training knives and it is still going to perform the same way and for a lot less money.

I liked them so well that I have now incorporated them into my Krav Maga and Knife Fighting Self-Defense classes for my intermediate and advanced students. Of course I still start them off on the much safer rubber knives, but once they achieve a certain skill level with the rubber knives, I move them up to these metal folders.

If there was one negative comment I have about these knives, is the fact that only one side of the handle is actual metal covered by a layer of rubber. The other side is simply just rubber with no metal reinforcing it. I haven’t found this to be a problem at all, but I do admit it would be nice if it was metal on both sides of the handle instead of just the one side.

My training school was selling a similar training blade for $70. This blade is perfect for training at a fraction of the cost. It has good weight and good grip. It feels like a real knife which is perfect for reality based training.

this was a great knife because it looks real and feels real.it operates like a real blade.people who train with knives know how dangerous they are even if you are well trained.this knife was used in a test for a student.the knife was pulled out and used to attack the student.the student was in total fear but performed the task.after the test the student couldnt ger over how real the knife looked because they thought the knife was real.experience is one thing that is hard to teach to others.this knife safely taught one student experience.never use real knives to train with.there are many training knives like this one that work just like a real knife except thay are safe if used properly.this knife is awesome.

Solid, cheap, but good.

I bought this about a month ago to augment my personal toolkit I use in Iraq. I terminate a lot of radio cables, but need something that’s fast to heat up and has a reasonable cool-down because of the random nature of when I need it.

Pros:
Heats up fast, and tells you when it’s ready.

Excellent ergonomics. Soldering a pin onto a cable (especially with a 90 degree connector) is a very precise task. The soldering guns we have (TK-101/GSQ component, Weller GT7As) have huge tips not suitable for the work, and holding the trigger is annoying. The shape conforms to your hand well and lets you get it into tight spaces like a 90 degree connector’s pin well easily.

Quick-change tip lets me separate the parts effortlessly in my toolbag so the tip sits in a pocket instead of the main area.

Con:
Only real one is personal preference; I don’t like using the conical tips. They don’t hold the solder well and get degraded faster than chisel tips. Being able to hold a small bead of solder and insert it into the hole in the pin is the ideal method when doing RG58, because holding longer will heat and expand the dielectric. If it came with both tips that would have been great, but not a major concern.

Overall, this is a great tool.

A Soldering Iron For A Happy Electronics Hobbyist

Soldered a few joints with this iron on a project not long after receiving it from Amazon. I definitely can recommend as I am well pleased with it’s performance. The unique plug-in tip tinned and wetted solder readily. The short warm up time is impressive and in line with manufacturer’s specification. I’m not totaly convinced this iron has all the power output of a 60 watt unit as the manufacturer claims, but it’s at least equal to say a forty watt. That’s not bad for the price, and be assured you’ll have plenty of heat to flow most any joint nicely. Because of the 18 watt DC power requirement I was able to use a smallish battery powered portable DC to AC inverter unit to operate away from line power for a bit. Cool.

I can only see two down sides to this product. Firstly, the non standard plug-in tips are relatively limited as to availability. Secondly, I am not too sold on the handle design. Supposedly you don’t need a holder as it just sits on your bench top, but the way it wobbles around doesn’t give me a lot of confidence the weight of the cord couldn’t pull the hot iron off the edge of my bench. Still, with just a few cons and a lot of pros I can heartily give the Weller WPS18MP PRO Series it’s rightful place at my electronics lab.

Cheap, flimsy, complicated

A review in backwards order!

Conclusion: Buy a different iron from Weller, such as the WLC100.

Pros:
- Cheap
- Nice grip
- Heats up really fast

Cons:
- No temperature adjustment
- Very light, flimsy-feeling construction (I can imagine the slightest movement sending it flying off my workbench)
- Nonstandard tips, and only two are available for this model: the one it ships with, and a large chisel tip.
- Poor QA – The particular iron I bought actually died after I used it for just one job. It simply refused to turn on. I immediately regretted my purchase and wished I’d gone with a more simple design without the status lights, funny tip design, and 9v power adapter.

Nice

This is a very nice knife for the money. It is a little smaller than I was expecting, but it’s ok. It’s a good utility knife for my job. I have to occasionally cut shrink wrap and banding off pallets as part of my job, so it does that perfectly well. I’m not a hunter so I cannot say this would be a good knife for anything related to that, but it would also work well for fishing.

I bought this knife on sale because i needed an extra and wanted sumthing cheap (at the time it was ten dollars at big five) and i found out it was a VERY sturdy, good looking and very capable knife, it became my primary knife for knife stuff. i love it sooo much!!!!!!!!! plz buy it it is totally worth it, it has beat all my expaectations greaatly!

Mini Bolt Cutter

I bought it knowing that it will always come in handy later, to break up and avoid paying extra fees to dispose of box springs and mattresses. Common bedding has springs and steel “wires” inside that are too much for a side cutter. The tool did what I expected very easily and quickly, and paid for itself many times. It has the feel of a solid, well fit together tool, is easily adjustable, and the cutters seem to be hardened as claimed. I would suggest some of your favorite lube on the appropriate parts to improve movement and ward off corrosion.
